Mrs. Patricia (Abernathy) Barrett Turner, 71, of Toccoa, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at her home following an extended illness.

Born January 1, 1947 in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. Abernathy and Hazel (Chastain) Scroggs. She was a self-employed caregiver and was of the Church of God faith.

She is survived by her children: Angie & Mark Lowery; Bo & Karen Barrett and Shane Barrett & Lisa Morgan; grandchildren Nicole & Matthew Barrett, Austin, Dylan, Christopher, Anna-Paige & Emma Barrett, Mercedes Weaver, Blake Lowery, Ethan Lowery; 10 great grandchildren; siblings: Becky Spencer, Sandra Molinaro, Libby Simmons, Deborah Crewe, Tammy Abernathy, Lorie Abernathy, Pam Wood, Kenneth Simmons, Terry Simmons, Jake Simmons, Michael Simmons, Dennis & Johnny Scroggs, Bobby Abernathy, Jeff Abernathy, Ronnie Abernathy and Stanley Abernathy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Ernest Gene Turner; and her former husband and father of her children: Jimmy Douglas Barrett, Sr.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Umbehant officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the families will be at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to help cover funeral expenses.
