Dalton “Woody” Woods

Mr. Dalton Richie “Woody” Woods, age 79 of Prather Bridge Road, Toccoa, GA passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Pruitt Health Care of Toccoa.

A son of the late Walter Glenn and Julia Mae Heaton Woods, he was born July 8, 1939 in Stephens County Georgia where he has lived his entire life. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church. He was on radio WNEG for many years on the Woody and Mrs. Agnes Show. He recorded and sang a number of songs, and he had a contract with Nashville Colt Records Company for his recordings.

Survivors include his wife Agnes Harbert McAvoy Woods of the home., two daughters and sons in law, Julie and Randy Crumbley of Toccoa, Misty and Jeff Allen of Toccoa, five sons and daughters in law, Tim and Monika Woods of Martin, Jeff Woods of Washington State, Ronnie McAvoy of Toccoa, John and Peggy McAvoy of Lavonia and Ron McAvoy of Eastanollee, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom he loved very much;, one sister, Bernice Medlin of Toccoa, two brothers, Frank Woods of Easley, SC and Billy Woods of Little Rock, Ark and a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved very much..In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Jamie Woods Whitehead and Janie Woods.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Hill Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Paul Garrison and the Reverend Austin Ivester officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 6 until 8 PM, online condolences may be made. www.acree-davisfh.com

The following will serve as pallbearers, Randy Crumbly, Ronnie McAvoy, Ron McAvoy, Tim Woods, Jeff Allen and John McAvoy,

Interment will be in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the services for Mr. Dalton “Woody” Woods.
