James Saylors: Canon, Ga.

Mr. James Lawrence Saylors, 87, of Bethany Bowersville Road, Canon, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 at his home.

Born on March 30, 1932 in Canon GA, he was the son of the late John Benjamin Saylors and Pearl Brady Saylors. Mr. Saylors was a retired machine operator and foreman having worked for Royston Mfg., Tenneco, Bulkliner in Lavonia and CFI. He was a member of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion in Lavonia and Marine Corp League in Toccoa. Mr. Saylors was a US Marine Corps veteran where he was a Corporal.

Survivors include his wife: Lucy Ruth Kennedy Saylors; two daughters: Veronica Owens of Hartwell, Linda Brock of Canon; one brother Joe Saylors of Canon; one sister: Ester King of Lavonia; two grandchildren: Dillan Brock, Shonda Risner; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Saylors was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren: Michael Cook, Emily Brock; one sister: Blanche Burden; two brothers: Ben Saylors and Leon Saylors.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. James Saylors will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Cory Pulliam officiating. Entombment will be in the Franklin Memorial Garden-North with military honors.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
