Virginia Godfrey Hudson, North Carolina

Mrs. Virginia Estelle Marino Godfrey, age 90, of Hudson, North Carolina went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 16, 2018 at Hickory Village Memory Care in Hickory, NC with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.

She was born February 24, 1928 in New York to the late Michael Anthony and Alma Brooks Marino. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clay Godfrey. Virginia was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. She retired from Georgia Federal National Bank, where she was the President’s Secretary.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, David Clay and Kathy Godfrey; daughter and son in law, “Lisa” Alma Lee and Paul Garrison; sisters, Dorothy Gross and Betty Brown; grandchildren, whom she adored, Mary G. Whitworth (John), David Garrison (Rebecca), Tonya Matthews, Clay Godfrey (Lori), and Matt Godfrey; and seven great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00PM Noon until the funeral hour.
