March 7, 1940 January 20, 2018 Bonnie was transported by Jesus The Christ to reside eternally with Elohim on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at her home in Buchanan, Va. Bonnie was born in Toccoa, Ga. to Elizabeth Lee (Lizzie) Payne Thomas and Lowery McBath Thomas and she was one of thirteen brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of Stevens County High School and North Georgia Cosmetology School. Bonnie is best remembered by those closest to her as a kind and nurturing person who held God close to her heart. Most days, she could be found tending to her garden where she grew many different fruits and vegetables that were shared with loved ones. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry R Johnson; sisters Sara Bailey and Pernie Isbell; daughter Stephanie Lee (husband John Surprenant and their children Matthew, Chelsea, and Oliver); son Jerry Todd (wife Kris Johnson and Jerry's children Ryan, Catherine, and Delaney); and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Bonnie's life's witness for Jesus will be held Sunday, January 28th at Fincastle Baptist Church in Fincastle, Va. Visitation will start at 2 o'clock in the afternoon with service to follow at 3 o'clock. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made as a love offering to Fincastle Baptist Church Memorial Fund P.O. Box 707 Fincastle, Virginia 24090.
