In April of 1941, Thomas T. Acree and Frank Y. Davis founded Acree-Davis Funeral Home. In 1944, Mr. Acree retired due to ill health and his interests were purchased by Mr. Davis and his wife, Laura Stovall Davis. Three generations of the Davis Family have owned and operated the business for almost eighty years. The Davis’ daughter and son-in-law, Fran Davis Jarrett and Gary Jones Jarrett and son-in-law, Douglas Scott, as they continue the solid principles of dignity, compassion and professionalism set by those many years ago. An excellent facility and caring staff are offered to all we are privileged to serve. The loyalties of the families we have served give us great joy and pride and have provided us with deep and lasting friendships. ABOUT OUR FAMILY
1941
Frank Y. Davis with the assistance of James T. Acree founded Acree-Davis Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was a graduate of Toccoa High School and of John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science and was a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He was at the reigns of Acree -Davis and active in the business until his death in 2002.
1944
Laura Stovall Davis became a partner in Acree-Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Habersham High School and attended Georgia State College for Women. She was active in the business until illness forced her to retire in 1990.
1975
Gary Jones Jarrett, the Davis’ son-in-law entered the business. Mr. Jarrett was a graduate of Toccoa High School and Presbyterian College with a B.S. Degree in Biology. He is also a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science and is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.
1990
Douglas Edward Scott, the Jarrett’s’ son-in-law joined the business. He is a graduate of Stephens County High School and a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science and a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.
2002
Fran Davis Jarrett, the daughter of the late Frank Y. and Laura Stovall Davis, has remained associated with the family business her entire life. She is a graduate of Toccoa High School and a graduate of Greenleaf Business College.
